STEM Can Help Others Challenge
Dear Frey Parents,
The Frey Foundation is launching our first STEM Can Help Others Challenge next week. This is a Can Goods Drive with a STEM Challenge bonus!! The Can Drive will run Monday, November 7th – Friday, December 9th with ALL cans being donated to Must Ministries during Winter Break. For every can your child brings in they will earn a point for their house!
STEM Can Help Others Challenge:
This is a STEM challenge among the classrooms to design, using the Engineering Design Process, a display using the donated cans. This is a great opportunity for our students to learn more important STEM concepts while having fun!! The more cans donated the more options the kids have with their design.
The displays will be judged on Creativity, Class Collaboration, STEM Integration and their Class Challenge Packet. Judging will be on Monday December 12th. The winning classrooms receive a pizza party and their teacher receives a $50 STEM Certificate to be used to purchase STEM materials for their classroom. All sponsored by the Frey Foundation!
The grades will be grouped as follows for the Challenge with one winner per group:
Kindergarten, First Grade, and Special Needs
Second and Third Grades
Fourth and Fifth Grades
The winning displays will be showcased in the main lobby through the Holiday Parties for all to enjoy!
Please help support one of our local charities and our STEMtastic Program at Frey Elementary by bringing in your non-perishable can food items
STEMtastic Campaign March 2016 was a great success!!
Thank you Frey families for all of your generous donations to the Frey Foundation’s STEMtastic Campaign! Our total as of May 9th is $48,972.60, of which about $8,000 is corporate matching grants/donations. We appreciate all the community has done for our students to make this a successful school year.
Baby chicks hatched at Frey! Second grade teachers, Mrs. Rickeard and Mrs. Scarpinato, did an amazing job hatching 18 chicken eggs as a part of their study on lifecycles. The Foundation purchased an incubator so the teachers and students could observe and document the egg-citing process in the classroom.
Thanks to Orthozone, Dr. Singleton & Dr. Cronan, for donating all of the science STEM cups each student received as a prize for their $35 donation. Also, thanks to ONE OF A KIND Marketing and Promotional Products, Carole Cannon, for donating all of the megaphones each student received as a prize for their $100 donation. Please support the businesses that support our school. www.myorthozone.com www.oneofakindga.com

Thank you from our STEM Lab!
From our STEM Lab teacher, Mrs. Allison Johnson: Thank you for all your wonderful donations to the STEM Lab! I have already put the items to use during your child’s STEM Lab experiences. Feel free to send in disinfecting wipes (any brand), small baby wipe packages ($1 at Walmart,Kroger), hand sanitizer and basic LEGO building block sets/pieces that need a “retirement home”. Thank you again!
Where does the Foundation spend the money?
Your generous donations during our March STEMtastic campaign allow the foundation to purchase needed science, technology, engineering and math supplies for your school. This is above and beyond what Cobb County can provide. The foundation board is administration, teachers and parents that review and prioritize needs at the school. Visit the Successes page for purchases that are making a difference for your child.
